Participants will:
  • Learn how to foster children's image of themselves as writers
  • Understand the importance for young writers of having a vision of writing as making a book
  • Learn how to support young children to read like writers
  • Understand the difference between word making and composition development
  • Examine specific composition dimensions that help guide teachers to intervene during side-by-side teaching with young writers
  • Learn intervention strategies to increase motivation and energy for reluctant writers
