Our understandings of differentiated instruction have continued to evolve especially over the past two decades. We need to rethink original notions of simply doing different things for different students and embrace the idea of using our expertise to respond appropriately to the different needs of different students. Responsive teaching needs to be at the heart of differentiated instruction. This may be especially critical for accelerating the growth of those students most in need of our support. In this presentation, we'll actively explore insights and ideas to make responsive teaching less daunting and more do-able; and why it needs to be front and center in our understandings and practices of differentiated instruction.
