English Learners are a heterogeneous group of students who are very diverse in ethnic and language backgrounds, socioeconomic status, academic abilities, and language levels.  In order to effectively educate English learners, teachers must assess each student's academic and language-development needs and tailor their instruction accordingly. This session is going to focus on second language acquisition, the language levels, and how to use that information to drive instruction.  We will try to look at some practical strategies that you can be implemented into your instruction in order to meet the needs of the English learners in your classes.
