Since its charter year (1967), MERC primarily serves Outagamie, Calumet, and Northern Winnebago Counties for public and private schools in the districts of Appleton, Brillion, Chilton, Freedom, Hilbert, Hortonville, Kaukauna, Kiel, Kimberly, Little Chute, Menasha, Neenah, New Holstein, Shiocton, Stockbridge, Weyauwega-Fremont, and Winneconne.

Our MERC History

Since 1967, MERC has continued to be a non-profit, professional, and service organization composed of reading specialists, teachers, administrators, and others who are genuinely concerned with the improvement and teaching of reading and the promotion of lifelong literacy.

  1. Grow as a professional through informative programming.
  2. Gain support or professional development hours for your Educator Effectiveness or Professional Practice goals.  
  3. Network with other reading professionals including classroom teachers.
  4. Be informed of legislation and trends regarding literacy education.
